You’re a savvy web site proprietor. When you upload a picture to your blog or business site you always make sure your title or alt tags are keyword optimized. Heck, you even have a WordPress site and those things practically optimize themselves now with all those skookum plug-ins.

Yup, things are awesome.

Yeah, I was like you once. Until a couple of weeks ago, when I had my mind blown by Morten Rand-Hendriksen of Pink & Yellow Media. During his ‘Your Blog Is Boring And Your Photos Suck’ workshop with Syx Langemann at Northern Voice 2011, Morten went over the general musts of optimizing your pictures on your blog, and then he got to the part about title tags, and my inner geek exploded.

Twitter for the small business

Whilst surfing Twitter earlier today, can’t remember what I was actually looking for at the time, I stumbled on a tweet from a cleaning company based in London.

It grabbed my attention because it was simple and to the point, it also included some good keywords relevant to their line of business. The tweet was a great example of how a small business can use Twitter to advertise their business to millions of people online and help them find new potential customers who are actually going to be interested in their products.

In the current climate small business are always on the look out for low-cost ways to advertise their business and one of the best ways to promote a business online is Twitter!

I’m not sure which of their tweets I initially came across so I’ve just included a few below so you can see what I mean.

Shine – Documentary on entrepreneurship

SHINE is a collaborative film project produced by BIZNIK.com, an online networking community for micro business owners and solopreneurs. The project began on May 6, 2009 when 12 video crews and over 400 entrepreneurs gathered in Seattle’s largest film production studio to share why they work long hours, for low pay, facing great uncertainty.

The film combines compelling stories from the event, and interviews with academics, celebrated researchers (like Scott Shane author of The Illusions of Entrepreneurship), and entrepreneurial superlatives (like Bruce Livingstone, founder of iStockphoto, acquired by Getty Images for $50M).

The result presents the larger story about entrepreneurship in an economy where 90 percent of all new jobs are created by small, entrepreneur-driven businesses.
