The
Difference Between Search Engine Optimization and Search
Engine Marketing
Search
Engine Marketing & Search Engine Optimization are terms
that are often incorrectly used interchangeably. The
phrases refer to two related, but very different
matters.
Search Engine Marketing describes all the methods used
to achieve a better ranking in search engines for a web
site. Some examples of sound search engine marketing
techniques include: |
 |
- Hand submission –
submitting sites to search engines manually allows us to customize
each submission to specific search engine guidelines
- Relevant Keywords – we get to know our customers personally so that
we can better build keywords that fit their company’s website needs
- Paid inclusion – paying a certain set price to have your site
included in a search engine directory
- Pay-per-click – this allows site owners to pay for better rankings
through Google Adwords and Yahoo! Search marketing (formerly
Overture)
- Traffic Monitoring – once the site has been optimized and submitted
to search engines, we monitor the results to make sure you are
getting the maximum result possible
Search Engine Optimization means revamping an existing website to
make it more search engine friendly. Several things happen during
optimization, but our main focus is to make certain that the site is:-
a) being found and read by search engine spiders and
b) being ranked
well by those spiders.
We make sure all pages are easy for the
spider to read and that the links are easy for a spider to follow.
We also make sure that the keywords are used properly and
appropriately. This is also when we look to make sure that the site
is not using any techniques that a spider will consider spam, which
could cause the site to be blocked or penalized in a search engine.
So as you can see, Search Engine Optimization is one method used in
Search Engine Marketing. Please check our
